We offer two 10 day, 100 hour modules.
Module 1: Sthira, The Foundation
In this first module, we will explore the importance of feeling stable, supported, and rooted in our practice and in our lives. Studying the limbs, spine, and bandhas through fundamental postures, functional alignment and pranayama. We will deepen our understanding or our own bodies, identify patterns that no longer serve us, and create new, safe ways of moving.
Module 2: Sukha, The Freedom of Movement
Connecting with your inner ocean, we learn in Module 2 to nourish our practice with a sense of ease, playfulness and spontaneity. We explore the watery environment of hips and shoulder joints and glide through fluid transitions (the movement between postures). Going deeper, we visit the subtle body and discover the movement of energy through pranayama and the chakra system.
Our split with you, the studio, would be 80/20 of gross profit. As part of your 20% share we hope that you will agree to implement light marketing which will include:
- Printing and hanging flyers/postcards to be placed/hung in studio (we provide the templates)
- Promote on studio’s social media (we may provide you with copy for these).
- Co-create a FB event together
- Send out email blasts each month promoting the training.
- Studio’s will encourage their teachers to announce after each class.
There will be an application process. The application will be accessible from your studio’s site and will allow us to get a feel for the people applying. We need a minimum of 8 students in order to host the YTT. Maximum number will depend on the studio’s capacity.
Students will get approximately 180 contact hour with 20 hours of non-contact to be completed outside of our program. This will include various writing and homework assignments, online anatomy, practice teaching hours, and observation hours. These hours will be logged and signed by either us or by the studio owner.
Basic requirements:
We ask that students have about a year of a steady practice whether it be at home or in a studio. Novices may find the program a bit overwhelming due to the long hours and physical activity. Health wise, as long as students are cleared by doctors to move and do physical activity we are happy to have them. We will also evaluate students individually as they start to apply since each case is different. That being said, we’ve had students with disc issues, arthritis, stenosis, M.S., go through our program-we find that people’s personal limitations actually make them better teachers as they instruct from their own experience and learn the proper, safe modifications to help those in similar situations.
To acquire their 200 hr YTT certificate, students will have to:
1. Pass a written exam
2. Complete all assignments and non-contact hours
3. Make up any missed hours (we can discuss this more)
4. Teach/sequence part of their practicum. (This will vary depending on size of group and module)
